FAQs

The Centered Voice

  • Please come with one piece you’d like to work on. It can be from the classical genre (aria, oratorio, art song) or musical theatre. If you’d like to bring a pop or rock song, for a musical theatre audition, that’s a great idea, too!

  • You might get more out of class if you’re memorized. But if you’re not, don’t let that be the thing that stops you from diving into the performance of your song. Bring what will be most useful to you!

  • Don’t worry - life happens and we understand if you can’t be there. So don’t worry!  However, once you’ve booked, we are preparing for your presence and cannot offer any refunds after 7 days before the class date.

  • Please have your computer set up with Zoom. We will send you specific set up information to make sure your sound comes through for everyone.

Please plan to have a BACKING TRACK for your song and a speaker that you use to play it.

I can help you find a track, if you need it. Just let me know.

  • You’ll get a copy of your recording within 2 weeks of class. It will be emailed to the email we have on file for you.

  • Great question! It will be tailored specifically for the group, but the basic structure is:

    1. Centering activity

    2. Sing your song

    3. Reflection and focus of class

    4. Workshop your song together through specific exercises designed for you and your needs

    5. Perform with feedback

    6. Perform again for your final performance / recording!

    • Clean sheet music for our pianist (or send Lindsey a pdf at least 3 days before class)

    • An open mind and spirit of curiosity

    • Clothing you can move in

    • A sense of play!

    • Performance!!

  • Please come with one song you’d like to perform. The song should be memorized as best as possible.

Please make sure you have a clean, readable copy for the pianist OR you have emailed a copy of the music to us that we can give our pianist.

Please bring a water bottle and make sure you eat a good lunch before class starts.

  • Don’t worry - life happens and we understand if you can’t be there. So don’t worry!  However, once you’ve booked, we are preparing for your presence and cannot offer any refunds after 7 days before the class date.

  • Of course! At 4:25 we’ll open up the doors for friends and family to come and see what we’ve been working on. Each participant will perform their solo song and you’ll also hear the song we learned during class.

The whole thing will be recorded and you’ll get the whole thing with basic edits so you can sit back and enjoy the performance without worrying about documenting it.

  • You’ll get a copy of your recording within 2 weeks of class. It will be emailed to the email we have on file for you.
